WOW… This weekend was very interesting. We survived IKE! I woke up Saturday morning with the wind blowing, the trees swaying, and the rain falling. The sight outside was dark and wicked. After awhile it seemed to calm down until about 4:00 then I think the worst part of the storm hit. Daddy and Michael had plans to go to this whitetail deer conference that started at 4:00, so Momma and I decided to go over to Memaw’s house and play cards with Tara, Casey, Kim, Ed, Memaw, and Chandler. That was a task to play cards in the dark with flashlights, but it was fun. After a couple of hours of hanging out at Memaw’s house momma and I decided to go home. We didn’t last long in our hot house until we decided to go out to where Daddy and Michael were, 3 hrs later we got to go home, that was at 1:30 in the morning. I’m sure you were wondering how they had electricity well… they used generators on welding trucks to power up lights and fans
(That is really wanting to have the show, even though there is a storm going on. That’s hunters for you.) I have NEVER seen the WHOLE town of Marshall without power. It was like there was nothing there, and it was VERY hard to see to tell where you were. That night we got power back, but many other homes in Marshall did not. Some are still without power and it could be up to Thursday until they get power back on. One thing though that really just made me mad was the fact that the WHOLE town was without power, but the liquor stores still REFUSED to close until 9:00, the traffic was backed up into Pinecrest as well as HWY 59 waiting to get alcohol. We lucked out in not having a lot of damage, we had a few limbs, Memaw had a tree down in here back yard, and Tara and Casey has some damage done to Chandler’s swing set and a few other things. We were all blessed to only have that damage. Praise GOD! Hope everyone else made it through the storm without to much damage. Until next time, have a Blessed Day!
